Silence is golden. Duct tape is silver. Either way, it will be quiet!

A friend will walk away if you get annoying, a best friend will tackle you to the ground and duct tape your mouth shut.

Duct tape. There is just something about it that captures the imagination.

It is tough, sticky, and available in many colors.

It has been known to solve many problems. It can fix anything.

...well, almost anything...

There is the issue of broken hearts, that seems even too tough for duct tape. But other than that, duct tape is one thing you can always count on! Keep a roll or two handy, and you are ready for any emergency, project or good time!

Duct tape is the same as Ranch dressing... You can use it for almost anything!

In the following article, I will show you a few of the ways duct tape is used.

MacGyver and Duct Tape

For the past seven years I have done nothing but travel around the world getting shot up, locked up, blown up... and all I have to show for it are a couple of empty rolls of duct tape. --MacGyver

His name is MacGyver. He can fix anything. He could fix a computer with a hairpin and a piece of duct tape.  --Pete

If I had some duct tape, I could fix that.  --MacGyver

Red Green and Duct Tape

"We hold these two pieces together using the handy mans secret weapon, Duct Tape."

"Spare the Duct Tape, Spoil the job."

Below, I will allow Red Green to demonstrate some of the fabulous projects that can be done with duct tape. Because, remember, "If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy."

You did a lot of research for this one. I love it!

LOL! When it seems the situation demands duct tape, do your research...

A very clever hub. How did we ever survive, Ivorwen, before duct tape was invented? Beats me!

You know one of my pet peeves? People who call it duck tape.

Before duct tape, I believe the sure-all was bailing twine or bailing wire. You can still see it in use on many ranches today.

Growing up, I was confused as to its actual name. The hard ware store in town sold both 'duct tape' and 'duck tape'. The 'duck tape' had pictures of little yellow ducks on the inside of the roll. I wonder if that company is still in business...

Love this! The pictures are fabulous! I've seen quite a few colors lately. A craze in my town is duct tape to make satchels or bookbags.

Thank you Sally! I haven't seen bookbags made out of duct tape. I do like the idea though. My kids love the wallets.

This was great! I sure do miss MacGyver...

On a different note, my kids and I all enjoyed the Red Green videos (I'm not showing the BBQ to my husband), and marveled over the clothes. They diddn't believe me that everything was made out of duct tape.

I always loved MacGyver! And he was so cute. :)

I'm glad you liked the Red Green. I had a hard time not putting too many of those videos in, but are you sure you don't want a bath-a-que in your front yard? Seriously. Then your husband could really cook for a crowd!

I thought the clothing was marvelous too. It is so creative!

Red Green is so fantastic! I grew up watching that with my dad. I love duct tape because of that show. :)

This was great! I listened to an NPR segment on duct tape that concluded that it is amazing stuff capable of performing many functions...the one thing is was nearly useless for however was taping ducts! Wouldn't ya' know!

Thanks too for introducing me to Red Green. I had never heard of him!

Tonks, Red Green was always a favorite in our house too. I really love all of his recycling ideas -- can you imagine an office chair made from an old oven?

Christopher, it figures that the one thing Duct Tape is no good for is the thing it is named for! At least Electrical Tape works for its intended purpose.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Red Green. I love introducing people to him!

I like that babysitting idea, but we would have to use a wall on the outside of the building -- no duct tape on my interior walls! The clothes are gorgeous, but in my mind, sewing would be easier than all that duct-taping!

Thanks for the laughs; I had not seen those particular Red Green episodes.

LiftedUp, I am glad you enjoyed it!

I saw a saying the other day that said, 'If you don't think someone who has duct taped their child to the wall is a genius, then you are not a real parent.' With five kids, you know I have been tempted! It gets them up off the floor, keeps them out of trouble, and hey, the kids look happy. :)

I also thought MacGyver was really cute, though I told my husband I enjoyed the cleverness his character always drew from. Especially loved the quote about how a good friend will tackle you and tape your mouth with duct tape if necessary. Ahh the things we must do to keep the ones we love out of trouble, lol.

If only duct tape really could keep loved ones out of trouble! Wouldn't life be so much easier? :)

I was just a kid when I watched MacGyver, so I've never had to justify my liking to my husband! I loved his cleverness too... but now I wonder, would the things he did really work? I mean, can you fix, or at least patch, a radiator with egg whites and duct tape? And what are you suppose to do if there is not a chicken house near by?

I'm sure the writers took a lot of "poetic license" with Mac's ideas, since they always worked.

Duct tape, never leave home without it and always have it all over the house. I was in JoAnne Fabrics with my daughter buying craft supplies yesterday and we saw a book filled with easy pull pre measured duct tape for easy usage, what will they think of next. :) Katie

P.S. Love all your fab duct tape ideas shared here. I will def have to share this one.

I've seen those little packages of duct tape too! One parenting magazine recommended keeping several of them in your purse, for make-shift roads and such in doctor's offices.

Thankd Katiem.
