Understanding

By Ivorwen

A song with no music.

Understand your woman, hold her with love.
Understand your woman, hold her with love.

Understanding

Ideas, arguments,
Fighting, love and tears.
This pattern has repeated
Repeated itself for years.
And all I wanted was your love...

Walking on ice,
Ever cautious,
Trying so hard not to fall.
Trying, always to please.
And all I wanted was your love...

He swore to love me.
He swore to protect me.
He promised to cherish me...
Cherish me always.

Teamwork, unity,
Striving together.
It is what we desire,
Desire, but cannot have.
And all I wanted was your love...

Is it wasted,
Time, forever gone?
Trying so much to please you,
Seeking your happiness.
And all I wanted was your love...

He swore to love me.
He swore to protect me.
He promised to cherish me...
Cherish me always.

But he loves me,
He loves me still.
He is trying,
Trying to show me he cares.

A visionary is he.
From him, ideas flow.
Ideas, not reactions,
Ideas and enthusiasm.
He cannot be what he is not.

Real love, I have.
Real love, I give.
Is it worth all these years,
To show him my love?

My love is real, it will last.
For loves sake, I fight.
For loves sake, I will win.
For unity, so desired, I will bend,
But I will be me.

He swore to love me.
He swore to protect me.
He promised to cherish me...
Cherish me always.

The path I walk,
It is my own.
Playing and dancing on it,
Seeing a vision bright,
Of you and me in the moon light.

The path I walk along
Is winding but true.
I see the end of our tears,
I see a hope for our years,
I see your love was always there.

This is beautiful! Seeing love that was always there ... perhaps in a different form than you desired, but nevertheless there ... this almost made me cry. Take care.

Thank you PrairiePrincess. I am beginning to doubt that love will ever look the way I thought it would.

Awesome poem darlin'. True love is like that, never ending.

Ivorwen- This is a truly great hub! Ralwus is right- you can deny true love, you can refuse true love, you can reject true love, but if it is "true" love, it will always remain, never ending, waiting for us to come to our senses! Thanks for sharing!

Very nice...Love is what it is, maybe not the way we envisioned but no matter what its form, and you're right it's so different for all of us, if it's constant, it's to be valued.

Oscar Wilde once said, "Who, being loved, is poor?" I think he was on to something there - as you are with this beautiful poem, Ivorwen.

On the funny side, here is something to ponder: If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? :)

Thank you Drbj, I think Oscar was a wise man. And I have been pondering your quandary. I think it is because though love may be blind it still likes an engaging mystery. :)

....extremely passionate piece and bursting at its poetic seams .......and larger than ...... life itself!

I think so much of love is faithfulness, and that continued striving to know and care for the other. Never an easy assignment, but what is a life without love? Coldness and emptiness.

I will always fight for her love. I cannot be without her. I dream she has found another, and I sleep no more. I hold her close and feel there is no higher purpose. My angel, my anchor, my reason for honor. Her innocence I will protect with my last breath.

I loved your poem. It kindled my passion to an inferno. You have a special talent.

Love certainly takes continued action, doesn't it, LiftedUp? I would rather be working at it, than the alternative.

Dear Ivorwen, I just discovered you today and I love your writing...I don't think "love" will ever look like we expected it to, but maybe in that mystery there is a jewel that we did not expect, but will appreciate.

Ivorwen Hub Author 16 months ago

Enlydia, I think you are right. I am finding that not much looks like I expect it too, but that doesn't mean there is not much treasure to be found in what is there.
